In the afternoon, enjoy cruising aboard The Olympia to the island of Patmos, built on a mass of volcanic rock. Marvel at the massive theater where Paul was opposed as he spoke boldly about Christ. Gaze at the Temple of Artemis (Diana), the Temple of Hadrian, and The Celsus Library. Step along the broad marble where Paul walked. This Greek and Roman city has been remarkably preserved. Return to the ship for dinner and overnight.ĭAY 8 (MAY 11): KUSADASI (EPHESUS)-PATMOS: Step off the ship at Kusadasi and into nearby Ephesus, Turkey, Asia Minor’s greatest archeological site. Spend the afternoon exploring the Island of Mykonos, world-renowned for its lovely windmills, small cobblestone streets, and countryside. Then we make our way to Athens, for dinner and overnight.ĭAY 7 (MAY 10): ATHENS-LAVRIO-MYKONOS: Begin the day with a drive to the Port of Lavrio and step aboard The Olympia, to start a 4-day Greek Islands cruise. Afterwards we will head to Plataea, where the final land battle between Greeks and Persians took place (479 BC) during the second Persian invasion of Greece. We visit the Temple of Apollo where Paul must have spoken to the people about the Living God, continue to the Theater, the Athenian Treasury and the Castalian Spring. Then we continue our drive through the beautiful scenery of Greece on to Delphi for dinner and overnight.ĭAY 6 (MAY 9): DELPHI-PLATAEA-ATHENS: This morning we visit the Delphi along with the museum with the famous Bronze Charioteer and other items that date back to the time of Paul. See the statue of Leonidas, king of the Greek city-state Sparta. Stop at the mountain pass of Thermopylae, the location where the Greeks victoriously fought for their freedom during the Greco-Persian wars in 480 BC. There are 24 monasteries here, only 6 of which are inhabited by monks.ĭAY 5 (MAY 8): KALAMBAKA-THERMOPYLAE-DELPHI: Today we head south to Delphi through the amazing countryside taking in the beauty of Greece. We make our way to Kalambaka to visit Meteora, a cluster of pillars of rock, and the “Hanging Monasteries” perched on top of rock cliffs dated back to 14th century. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.ĭAY 4 (MAY 7): THESSALONIKI-VERIA-KALAMBAKA: This morning we leave our hotel to continue to Veria, or Berea, where Paul and Silas were sent by friends after being accused of treason in Thessaloniki (Act 17:5-15) and found people who eagerly received his message “examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were true” (Acts 17:11). Continue along the waterfront to the massive White Tower and nearby triumphal Arch of Galerius. View one of the most beautiful basilicas in the city, St. Return to Thessaloniki to explore the ancient city where Paul planted a church “Paul and Silas traveled on through Amphipolis and came to Thessalonika” (Act 17:1) that would later receive two New Testament epistles. Then we will continue to the seaside of Kavala- Neapoli where St Paul had docked during his mission. We will see the dungeon where Paul was held prisoner and the site where he baptized Lydia, the first Christian woman in Europe “One of those who heard us was Lydia… After she and the people of her house had been baptized” (Act 16:14-15). Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.ĭAY 3 (MAY 6): THESSALONIKI-PHILIPPI-KAVALA: Today we will drive to Philippi, where Paul delivered his first sermon in Europe, planting the seeds of Christianity. The Holy Scriptures will come to life in unimaginable ways! This will be a trip of a lifetime that promises to forever change all of us!ĭAY 2 (MAY 5): ARRIVAL IN GREECE: Arrive in Thessaloniki, where we will be met at the airport for transfer to our hotel. We will step into history and walk alongside Paul as we journey through Philippi, Thessaloniki, Berea, Athens, Corinth, Crete, Patmos, and Ephesus. Questions?
